Looking after your toys keeps them hygienic and helps them last much longer. The good news is that it only takes a couple of minutes. Here is how to clean and store your toys properly.
Before and after every use
Wash your toy before and after each use. Use warm water and a mild, unscented soap, or a dedicated toy cleaner. Pay attention to seams, textures and the base, then rinse well.
Cleaning toys with batteries or motors
Most vibrators are splash-proof or waterproof, but not all of them can be submerged. Check the product description. For non-waterproof toys, wipe the surface with a damp cloth and toy cleaner, and never let water reach the charging port.
Dry completely
Pat your toy dry with a clean, lint-free towel and then let it air-dry fully before putting it away. Moisture left on the surface, especially on TPE or jelly toys, can lead to bacteria.
Store toys separately
Keep each toy in its own pouch or box. Some materials react with each other when they touch, which can make surfaces sticky or damaged. A cool, dry and dark place – like a drawer – is ideal.
Charging and batteries
Charge rechargeable toys fully before first use, and if you will not use a toy for a while, remove any batteries to prevent leaks.
When to replace a toy
Replace a toy if the surface becomes sticky, cracked or discoloured, or if it develops a smell that does not wash away. These are signs the material is breaking down.
